Entrepreneurs of the gaming industry

Entrepreneurs of the gaming industry

If I learned anything in this talk today, it would be to listen.

I had the amazing opportunity to meet with P3nstah, the head of Point Panic esports team along with his colleague Jay (Jayilluminate) and talk about growing our brands this year and how we can give back to the community and SHAKE the gaming industry.

A couple weeks ago, I messaged P3nstah on discord and asked him if we can coordinate a meeting on how we can grow as entrepreneurs and lead our teams successfully. One thing I love about Pen is he's always willing to help others and share his experiences whether you're on Point Panic or not!

As soon as he said he was down, I messaged a couple of the co-leaders in Scopekrew Bigdistrict670, ScopeJolly, and Scopegrizz about this amazing opportunity to gain inspiration, gather ideas, but most importantly to listen.

As this meeting started, let me tell ya, everything felt natural. Jay and Pen are so easy to talk to and I noticed when passionate people are talking about something they're passionate about the conversation just flows. Thats where the excitement, inspiration, and compassion starts to settle in.

We discussed things around Call of Duty and the state that its in and how it strains so many streamers because you can see the state of disappointment they are in. Although with hopes of it getting better after the holidays and the new updates coming in. This tied in to our conversation about content and how streaming a game that just fills you with anger is not something your audience deserves! Especially with teams that don't play competitively, if there's no fun where you’re having it’s always okay to try something different, maybe there’s a community there waiting for you! We talked about how we've been playing battlefield and have so many clips to upload because of how much fun were having on this game. We then got P3nstah to download it and he was having a blast!

P.S Battlefield 2042 is highly recommended if you wanna try something similar to COD.

We ended the conversation about content by talking about posting QUALITY clips. I told the boys to look at the posts that they've "liked". Actually look at it deep from an audience/creators eye. Why did you like it? What made you like it? Was it the caption? Attention grabber? The types of content we see in todays society especially the ones that are doing great in terms of reach and likes are the ones we got to replicate but in our own way. See I got some stuff up my sleeve! So much to learn.

Although, I cant go into other specifics about what we talked about, just know we got plans for this coming year.

After the important topics were talked about we just vibed for the duration of the meeting. Then things got deep. P3nstah talked about his background and the lowest of his lows. There was a time for him when life just went south, not to put his private information out there but one thing that absolutely took me away was when he was talking about the downshift in PointPanic. There was a time when giving up on gaming was hitting him bad but he told us a story about how his daughter asked him, "Can you teach me how to play this?" as she picked up the xbox controller. At this time, mans is trying to make me cry bro. Pen stated that he just broke down immediately then started teaching his daughter how to play after. "After that moment, Point Panic took a shift".

Competitive teams and content teams were added. Players were dropped, players were added. Then passion and hard work took its course. Although, there was one specific player that Pen and Jay mentioned that they stated, "Absolutely carried Point Panic in 2024". And that is... drum roll please.. the one and only AlohaxDrippy! AlohaxDrippy, as loved ones call him "Drip" or "Big drip" is one of the most underrated streamers of this era. This man is funny, kind, entertaining, and will make you feel at home in his chat! He streams on twitch alongside with the man P3nstah. Drip also uploads gaming content everyday on his instagram and receives so much support from his amazing community.

Rewinding back to Pen's story, just to think, if it wasn't for that moment I don't think the gaming industry would be where it is at today and I say that with my chest. Every gamer, ever creator is equally important but this guy Pen, this guy is something special. A leader that every team needs, wants, and hopes for. He is a father, gamer, a Polynesian content creator, and an amazing leader in this industry.

Along with PointPanic, Pen's colleague Jay is so hardworking. As I was talking to him you can just hear the passion he has in helping people. Jay is so dedicated to PointPanic. I am so glad Pen has someone like Jay on their side, they share the same vision, goals, and when ideas pop into their head, they will work effortlessly to make it a reality.

I just want to thank the PointPanic team, P3nstah, Jayilluminate, along with my team members Bigdistrict670 (Kapua), Scopegrizz (Brenden), and ScopeJolly(Ryan) for making this meeting happen. I truly learned a lot from all of you and I know in the future when we have these meetings, were going to come up with some amazing plans, ideas, and more. Also were going to have all eyes on us! (not that we want attention) I'm just trying to say, hard work will never go unnoticed.

To wrap this up, Gaming industry, Point Panic and Scopekrew are coming for you.

Thank you for reading,

Scopeazy
